LYNETTE WASHINGTON
Lynette has lived in Northwest Arkansas since July 2011 with her husband, Dr. Tyrone Washington, and four children Jeremiah, Maiesha, Lydia, and Chloe. Lynette and Tyrone graduated from the University of South Carolina – Tyrone with his Bachelor’s and PhD and Lynette with her Bachelor’s.
Lynette was a scholarship athlete on the women’s basketball team for one year and with the track & field program for five years. She was an SEC Champion shot putter in 2001 and NCAA National Qualifier. Lynette was an all-state basketball player and shot putter in the state of Ohio throughout her high school career. She has coached basketball and track & field and worked as the strength & conditioning coach for the women’s basketball team at the University of Evansville.
Lynette also served as the Director of Children’s Ministry and Outreach for The Grove Church in Fayetteville for five years. This is where she really began to connect with the needs of the NWA community. She also spent two years working for Arkansas Athletes Outreach as the Director of Development and Community Engagement as well as a volunteer coach.
Lynette loves to be around people and especially children from babies through college students. She is currently teaching PE and coaching basketball at Shiloh Christian in Springdale as well as teaching exercise science classes at the University of Arkansas. Lynette graduated with her Master’s in Community Health Promotion from the University of Arkansas in December 2019.
